Women’s Pottery Club donating for the good cause
16. Dec. 2019
On December 10, 2019, the Women’s Pottery Club handed over the proceeds from the 20th pottery bazaar to child and charity institutions, as they have done every year. This year, three donations could be handed over: First, €2,500 to Wünschewagen Sachsen-Anhalt, which fulfills a last wish of seriously ill people; second, €800 to AMe Bolivia, a rehabilitation center in Santa Cruz, Lajas (Bolivia), where sick and disabled people are cared for; third, €1,000 to Friedensau Kindergarten (in municipal sponsorship) for the purchase of new gymnastics equipment for children. The donation checks were handed over to Jennifer Menn and Inga Mohr (Friedensau Kindergarten), Luisa Garthof (Wünschewagen Sachsen-Anhalt), and Melissa Dost (AMe Bolivia).
Being creative and doing good at the same time? Is that possible? Yes, it is! The Women’s Pottery Club around Sieglinde Schröter has been doing this for 20 years now. The members of the club that has existed for 23 years might have changed, but many women have been there since the beginning when Christa Gerhardt brought this idea to Friedensau and started the Women’s Pottery Club. Clay—that is the material from which jugs, bowls, cups, and above all various figures for house and garden are made in the pottery of Friedensau throughout the year. And that is not all. The items are sold, and the proceeds are donated for a good cause. Over the past years, more than 50 different organizations and associations could benefit from the donations. And the design ideas do not run out—neither does the joy of doing good!
