Week of Prayer in Autumn from November 5 to 9
11. Nov. 2019
On November 5, 2019, the Week of Prayer in Autumn started in Friedensau. The event takes place in the assembly hall (Aula) every night at 7:30 pm from November 5 to 9, 2019. The single topics are: “What love does …” | “What love does not …” | “Love supreme” | “The essential ingredient”.
Sebastian Henschke, student in the B.A. Social Work program, describes how he experienced the start of the Week of Payer: “The first session was about 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 and its meaning. Paul says in these verses that all conceivable spiritual gifts, such as eloquence, prophecy, strong faith, and self-sacrifice, are laudable in themselves, but do not mean anything without love as the essential ingredient. In other words: If love is not my motivation for using my gifts and talents, my gifts do not mean anything. If we then consider 1 John 4 where it says that God Himself is love, it becomes perfectly clear that God Himself is the essential ingredient and that it is He alone who makes our talents become a blessing for us and others through love.”
The Week of Payer comes to an end with the last sermon in the chapel on Saturday, November 9, at 10 pm. Pastor Burton-Schnüll is preaching in English in all sessions; headsets are available for German translation. The sessions and the sermons are being streamed and may be followed on Facebook: www.facebook.com/thh.friedensau/
