Start of principal photography for the Friedensau film

26. Aug. 2024

Today, Monday 26 August 2024, the main shooting began for the Friedensau film "Echo of Faith. Friedensau: A place of faith and education". It tells the story of Friedensau, which was founded in 1899 and will celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2024. The former missionary and industrial school with a number of functional buildings gave rise to Friedensau Adventist University, which received state recognition in 1990.

Three further external dates are planned; they will take place in Gernrode (Harz), in Magdeburgerforth (Traditionsverein Kleinbahn) and on the Friedensau site (in the New School).

The film, which is still in the making, takes a look at the site as a whole and is essentially structured chronologically. It combines historical information with re-enacted scenes and shows a continuous storyline that illustrates the development of the site and the university. Three key stories are emphasised: The first shows the impressive achievement of the pioneers in founding the school and their missionary enthusiasm. The second and third are more emotional stories that depict the situation during the Second World War and in the GDR era, but also the years after 1990. The stories are made authentic by the people who stand for this place and have brought it forward to this day. The script is based on the 2006 book "Wanderer, kommst du nach Friedensau ..." by Friedensau lecturer in church history Wolfgang Hartlapp (1929–2022).

We will document the progress of the work with photos on our university website: https://www.thh-friedensau.de/film-friedensau/

Please take a look at this page over the next few days. Perhaps you will recognise one or the other Friedensauer in a completely "new role"! (Text: Andrea Cramer).
