Prof. Dr Friedemann Schulz von Thun opens the lecture series Flourishing
To mark the founding of Friedensau 125 years ago, Friedensau Adventist University is organising an interdisciplinary lecture series from 13 November to 11 December 2024 on the major topic of ‘Flourishing’ - which can be aptly translated as ‘blossoming’. Nationally and internationally recognised scientists will each examine the topic from their own perspective. Five public lectures are planned, which are aimed not only at students and lecturers, but at all interested parties. The first lecture in the lecture series will take place next Wednesday:

Prof Dr Friedemann Schulz von Thun (Hamburg)
A fulfilled life – How looking at your own life path contributes to this
Friedemann Schulz von Thun's late work is called ‘A Fulfilled Life’. In it, the experienced communication psychologist uses references to his own biography to create a kind of coordination system for a successful life. In his lecture, we will learn what role our wishes, meaningful tasks, attitude to important events in our lives, the ability to wonder and self-discovery play in this.
Friedemann Schulz von Thun (*1944) studied psychology, education and philosophy in Hamburg and gained his doctorate in 1973 with a thesis on comprehensibility. From 1976 to 2009, he held a professorship in educational psychology in Hamburg. With models such as the communication square (also known as the four-beak-ear model) or the inner team, he has significantly shaped communication psychology as well as the popular understanding of talking to each other.
The lecture can be experienced ‘live via video screen’ in the auditorium of Friedensau Adventist University, An der Ihle 2. We cordially invite you to do so.
Participation via Zoom is also possible. Pre-registration is required for this at https://www.thh-friedensau.de/125. The Zoom links will be sent to you.
