Vita
Kerstin Maiwald, born 1980, married, is a Research Associate at the Theology department since 2017 and Program Director B.A. Theology since 2023. After her M.A. of Ancient Near Eastern Studies (“Altorientalistik”) and History at the Freie Universität Berlin, she completed her doctoral studies in Ancient Near Eastern Studies at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. In her doctoral thesis, she developed a method based on diverse observations to localize Mesopotamian creation texts situationally and thus reconstruct their “Sitz im Leben.” Since 2002, she has also been a trained publisher of newspapers and magazines and has worked, among her academic stations in Berlin and Göttingen, at Berliner Verlag, Penguin Random House and as a freelancer for academic editing.
