Mario Alfaro (BFD) honoured with integration award

On 21 June 2023, a wide variety of projects, associations and initiatives were awarded the Integration Prize of the State of Saxony-Anhalt. At a ceremony in Magdeburg, Minister of Social Affairs Petra Grimm-Benne, State Secretary Susi Möbbeck, Integration Commissioner of the state government, and State Equal Opportunities Commissioner Sarah Schulze presented the awards.
"This is the 13th time the prize has been awarded to honour the commitment to living well together and successful integration. The awarding of the Integration Prize is intended to bring the commitment of associations, initiatives, municipalities, companies and volunteers to integration into the public eye," is how the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health and Equality describes the intention for the appreciation of the prize winners.
"The jury also recognised 22 volunteers for their special individual commitment to integration work on behalf of the many committed people in the country and thanked them very sincerely." Among those honoured is Mario Alejandro Alfaro Merelo, who is currently doing his federal voluntary service in the university's library. "Since many of the students did not know how to swim, he organised a swimming course." Friedensau also extends its warmest congratulations to Mario Alfaro!
