Long evening of short stories
27. Jan. 2019
On Saturday, January 26, 2019, the "Long evening of short stories" took place in the chapel of Friedensau. Real-life episodes and experiences were presented. Some of the speakers are well-known in Friedensau and its surroundings. Manfred Böttcher, former head of the Theological Seminary of Friedensau, spoke about an experience that dated back to the last days of World War II with an unexpected reunion in the 1970s. Pastor Andreas Erben (Gera) and singer-songwriter Sieglinde Wilke (Burg) told stories that were either based on their own personal experience or recreated or recited. The experiences of Daniel Heinz, Director of the Historical Archive of Friedensau Adventist University (FAU), who as a young man worked as a book evangelist during the semester break and who succeeded in selling literature by weight in the Tyrolean mountains, were a source of great cheerfulness, with Austrian charm and selectively presented in dialect.
The readings were musically framed by improvisations on various instruments by cantor Thomas Weber from Regis-Breitingen.
The event was organized by the Church Development department of the Berlin-Mitteldeutsche Vereinigung (BMV) of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church in Germany and part of the 7th "Lebensschule" (Life School) Symposium, which took place in Friedensau from January 25 to 29, 2019.
