Friedensau post office closes – and reopens elsewhere
25. Apr. 2024
On April 30, 2024, the postal agency in the Friedensau store café will close – and reopen at a different location on the same day.
Residents of Friedensau and the surrounding villages, students and employees of Friedensau's facilities enjoy using the opportunity to send and receive letters and parcels in the store café. It is an important hub for postal services. Marcus and Sandra Krugel, operators of the Friedensauer Ladencafé, terminated their partnership agreement with the post office at the end of April for financial reasons.
Thanks to an initiative by the university, the idea was born to convert the former reading café in the library into a post office branch, supplement it with a "Friedensau Shop" and thus save the post office for Friedensau. Chancellor Tobias Koch signed a corresponding contract on behalf of the university on February 27, 2024. In the next few days, the reading café will be converted into the new "post office", and the new rooms will be handed over on April 30 at 1 pm. From May 2, the redesigned post office with a DHL parcel store will open its doors to customers for two hours a day from Monday to Friday from 13:00 to 15:00 (Text: Andrea Cramer).
