First event on “Ethical Humanitarianisms”.
21. Apr. 2021
The Friedensau Institute for Evaluation at ThHF (FIFE) and the Institute for Humanities at the University of Cape Town (HUMA) agreed earlier this year to collaborate on "Ethics of Humanitarian Assistance" ("Ethical Humanitarianisms"). The multi-year project includes roundtable discussions, workshops, podcasts, video clips, policy commentary, public engagement, and scholarly publications (we reported on this in a press release on February 17, 2021).
The first event in this project series took place on April 20, 2021 via Zoom. The topic addressed "Values, Canons, and Ethical Considerations." International experts participating in the panel discussion were:
Carl Manlan (COO of Ecobank Foundation), Kathryn Toure (Regional Director Eastern & Southern Africa, International Development Research Centre) & Lucy Koechlin (Chair of the Board of the Oumou Dilly Foundation & Senior Lecturer in Social Anthropology University of Basel). The event was chaired by Dr. Kwaku Arhin-Sam of the ThHF. The theme was introduced musically with a kora performance by the artist Ousmane Fall.
