Experience the Night of the Libraries
13. Mar. 2025
The Night of the Libraries will take place across Germany on 4 April 2025. Under the motto ‘Knowledge. Share. Discover’, libraries will be promoting their educational programmes. With this campaign, they want to present themselves at an unusual time and attract new readers. Friedensau University Library cordially invites you to experience this afternoon and evening in the university library. In Friedensau, the focus will be on topics relating to history, religious practice and theology.
The planned programme:
4 p.m. Opening of the exhibition ‘Daring! 500 years of the Anabaptist movement 1525-2025’ | Lecture by church historian Dr Johannes Hartlapp on the ’Anabaptist movement’
7.30 pm Shabbat Shalom in the library followed by the lecture ‘I want to sing and play to God’ with Johannes Fähndrich
8.30 to 9 pm Break | Delicacies and drinks in the foyer
9 pm Start of the ‘Gospel Games’ tournament
The games tournament starts at 9 p.m. and is played in a 1-2 knockout system. After every two games, there will be a ‘pit stop’ for the participants with a life question and a Bible verse. The winner of the tournament will receive a copy of ‘Abraham's Game’ as a prize. The game is modelled on an ancient find that Prince Abraham is said to have known.
During the ‘Night of the Libraries’ on 4 April, the library will be open until midnight. Admission is free. Anyone interested is very welcome.
