Donations handed over to charitable organizations

On November 20, 2023, the Friedensau pottery women handed over the proceeds from the Friedensau pottery bazaar on October 8, 2023 to charitable organizations. One cheque with a value of 1,500 euros went to the Wish Wagon in Magdeburg, which fulfils a last wish for seriously ill people. The second cheque, worth 2,700 euros, went to the Friedensau campsite, which works with children and young people in the region and beyond.

Sieglinde Schröter, head of the Friedensau women's pottery group, handed over the cheque for the Friedensau campsite to nature educator Stephan Hartmann from the Friedensau campsite. He explained that the money would be used to further develop the overnight facilities at the campsite, such as the newly refurbished covered wagon and the purchase of the necessary mattresses.

The pottery women presented a cheque to the Magdeburg Wish Wagon – represented by Luisa Garthof – for the third time. The Wish Wagon is a facility of the Workers' Samaritan Federation that helps seriously ill people in the last phase of their lives to realize an extraordinary wish – be it to see the Baltic Sea again or to visit a concert or their former home once more. The ASB volunteers do a great job here.

The donation amount goes back to the proceeds from the pottery bazaar on Sunday, October 8, 2023. Pottery produced over the past year by the creative women from Friedensau (and the surrounding area), such as handmade cups, jugs, bowls, ceramic figurines for the garden, bird baths, light figurines, found new owners in early autumn. The Friedensau pottery bazaar, which takes place once a year, is an extremely popular event. The fan community never misses an appointment and does not shy away from the necessary queuing at the entrance. The pottery bazaar was launched 24 years ago by the Friedensau women's pottery group to use their craftsmanship and creativity for regional charitable projects.

The next Pottery Bazaar will take place on June 9, 2024 – a date that is somewhat out of the ordinary. On this day, there will be an open day in Friedensau, in which the potters' wives will participate. This Sunday in June, Election Sunday, will be the only date for the pottery bazaar in Friedensau in 2024. Another one is not planned for 2024 (Text: Andrea Cramer | Photos: FAU).
