Classical concert in Friedensau “To the music”.
25. Jun. 2021
On June 24, 2021, after a long break, a concert for friends of classical music resounded in the Friedensau Chapel. The concert was performed by two dedicated young musicians who study at Friedensau: Melanie Bahr (M.A.-study Counseling) on the piano, harpsichord and organ; Lea Jelinek (B.A.-study Social Work) with the violin.
Both titled the evening "To the Music." The title is taken from a song composed by Franz Schubert, whose lyrics were written by the lyricist Franz Schober. The title fits so well because music has accompanied the two students throughout the years of their studies in Friedensau. You can see it in their faces: They enjoy making music; they experienced that listening to music is something very beautiful; making music themselves is even better! Lea and Melanie have left their mark on Friedensau's musical life; they have participated in a variety of university events, contributed musically to church services and devotions, and also sang in the university choir. They are winners of the Waltraud and Herbert Blomstedt Prize of 2020.
The concert featured works by various composers - from Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, Henry Purcell, Antonin Dvořak, Franz Schubert to Ferdinand Küchler. The concert can be listened to here: https://youtu.be/CKgx-QEirWs.
With this musical evening, both said goodbye to Friedensau, its inhabitants and their friends. Both will start their professional life in new places in the short and medium term. The concert was broadcast on Friedensau TV and YouTube. The event was moderated by Annegret Hartlapp.
