Preserving and discovering history

Our anniversary year to mark the founding of Friedensau 125 years ago is in full swing. The exhibition on the history of Friedensau can be seen in the university library until the end of the year. The forest run for a good cause, the Week of Cultures and, as highlights, the Open Day and the end of the academic year with the organ concert to mark the consecration of the organ 50 years ago are already behind us. In order to tell the story that God wrote with the people of Friedensau, a "Friedensau Chronicle - 125 Years" will be published this fall. By the middle of next year, a film entitled "Echo of Faith" will bring the development of this special place to life visually. Preserving knowledge and, above all, making it accessible is one of the tasks of a university. The Historical Archive of the Free Church of the SDA for Europe should also be mentioned in this context. The archive is housed in the basement of the library. We rarely realize what it does, what treasures it contains and how it strengthens our identity as Adventists. Looking back into history is a great enrichment. To keep this view interesting and up-to-date, I would like to ask for your help. Historically significant donations in kind, such as correspondence, literature, photos or documents from the life of the Adventist churches are useful. Of course, financial support also helps. Chronicles, film, digitization and archiving cost money. But we value a look into history, whether through the Institute of Archaeology into the time of the Old Testament, through the archive into the time of the founding of the church, whether on TV or the Internet in the form of films into the past or present. Your donation helps us to preserve valuable Advent historical items and thus enrich the congregations.
