Alexander Schulze is the new Dean of Theology
08. Sep. 2021
As of 1 September 2021, Alexander Schulze, Ph.D., is the new Dean of the School of Theology at Friedensau Adventist University (FAU). Alexander Schulze is a graduate of the FAU. He first worked for several years in Namibia, later as a pastor and national executive director of the Church Children's and Youth Association in Germany. In 2016, he was called to the chair of Practical Theology at the FAU. After his election as Dean, he said about the current challenges: "In the Department of Theology, we are facing the beautiful challenge of being able to offer a new Master's programme in Pastoral Ministry from the winter semester 2022/23. Students from all over the world are invited to come to Friedensau to study theology in the Master's programme. We look forward to soon welcoming new students and training them to be pastors for ministry. Along with that, we look forward to the support of new faculty who will expand the college and are also welcome to join us."
When asked why young people should choose to study at Friedensau, the new dean replied, "Studying at Friedensau is exceptional in every way. We teach theology and Christian social welfare in a highly secular environment. Those who are educated here have the potential to make it anywhere. Yet the idyllic campus with its brick buildings from the Wilhelminian period is more reminiscent of southern England than Saxony-Anhalt. Currently, 217 students from 42 countries are enrolled in Friedensau. Our Bachelor's and Master's programmes in Theology, Social Work, Music Therapy, Counselling, Development Studies and International Social Sciences are offered in German or English - both languages can be learned on campus - and are subject to double quality assurance due to state recognition under the auspices of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The winter semester 2022/23 is a good time to start studying at Friedensau."
